It's a Wonderful Life

It's a Wonderful Life is an all-time classic movie released all the way back in 1946.  It's the story of George Baily (played by James Stewart) a man much like our character Laura.  George spends his life putting others ahead of himself.  George takes over the family business.  A building and loan for the small town he lives in.  George's uncle misplaced some money and George will go to jail if it isn't replaced.  George goes for a long walk and wishes he had never been born.  His wish is granted by his guardian angel.  George then experiences his town where he had never been born.  Realizing he has made a profound impact not just on the town but the people he has surrounded him in his life.

So why am I bring up this really old movie?  It's because Laura is about to learn a similar lesson to George.  After Luara's profession of love for Carmilla, Dean Perry's henchmen resque her and a battle ensues where the Libray (which has become a character in this) sends Laura to a parallel universe to see if she can get the fourth item to stop Dean Perry.

Laura finds herself in the Library but it's different suddenly LaFontaine appears and says your dead.  LaFontaine goes on to tell Laura that she was thrown into the pit.  Laura learns that Danny and Perry were not in good shape LaFontaine has been banned from school and Carmilla just disappeared after her death.  Suddenly JP comes in telling Laura that Vordenberg isn't dead and that she still has a chance.  LaFontaine and Laura try to figure out a way to get to Vodenberg.  Laura asks about Danny and Kirsch finding out that both were in jail Danny for killing all the Zata's and Kirsch was blamed for Laura's death.

We flashback to Carmilla and LaFontaine in reality.  Carmilla is nervously pacing eventually losing her cool yelling at LaFontaine for bringing her Mother to the Library.  LaFontaine runs off to do research.  Leaving Carmilla to break down in frustration and sadness.  In angry sadness, Carmilla threatens to burn the Library down if Laura isn't brought back. Carmilla is learning what life would be like if she hadn't sacrificed herself to save Laura. She eventually calms down and starts to help LaFontaine figure out how to bring Laura back.  As Carmilla learns about what life would be like without Laura.  We flashback to Laura. Where LaFontaine and Laura hear a noise sending them into hiding.

Enter a very sad and depressed Carmilla. Laura calls out to her scaring Carmilla thinking she is hearing ghosts.  Mattie follows behind saying not this again.  Luara is about to learn about how Carmilla is doing without her and it's not well.  Mattie again confused why Carmilla is so heartbroken over Laura.  Carmilla begins to express her guilt for turning Laura over to her "Mother".  Laura then learns why her Carmilla loves her.  She believed in Carmilla when no one else would.  She wasn't scared by Carmilla's dark sad story.  Laura then comes out of hiding and explains everything to this Carmilla and Mattie.  Mattie agrees to get Laura the heart. Mattie returns with the heart but sees her broken locket on Laura and destroys the heart.  JP sends Laura back to reality empty-handed.  JP says one last thing before he is deleted "She must give up her immortality."

Ok, so Laura has learned a lot about life without Laura. She has learned that life isn't worth living without sacrifices.  Laura learned that with or without her, her friends would still be in similar situations but with her, they will always have hope.  Laura has learned that Carmilla loves her and would do anything to save her.

Now up until this point, it's been a long synopsis of what happened in the past four episodes.  What I got from these episodes was that this series has been essentially my It's Wonderful Life. Where am I going with this?  Laura and Carmilla's romance has allowed me to reflect on my and L's love story.  I got to relive a lot of very happy and sad moments with L.  Our first kiss our first meeting our struggles to grow up in our first and only real relationship and the epic snowstorm.

These four episodes showed me that I had been in a parallel universe where I just didn't care about us anymore. The show has opened my eyes to see what L and I use to be like and our romance that we once had. In these episodes both Carmilla and Laura have seen what life was like if Carmilla had chosen not to save Laura and now their bond has grown stronger. Now we're getting close to the end of the series.  L and I will probably never save the world.  So I'm guessing there won't be much more left that relates to me and L but you never know.  This series has always surprised me.

Not All Keys Click

I'm not done with this episode.  Have you ever had a key go into a lock but it doesn't open that door?  A lot of keys fit but they don't always open the right door.  L and I live in a very old house, and we have doors everywhere.  Some with keys some without.  Some of these old keys have been worn down and don't always click into place but they open the door nun the less.  For L and me, this couldn't be more true.  It's the right key.  It's the right lock.  It's the right door, and everything will work but it just doesn't click all the time.    For Luara and Carmilla this is also true.  Maybe even more accurate than L and I.  I bring this up because Laura brings this analogy up in this episode.  I don't practically agree with her statement.  I'm guessing she will learn that not all keys have to click smoothly to open the right d...

The End or the Beginning? (Not everything goes to plan)

The end or the beginning?  This is the question I thought about after the credits rolled.  The story was over.  Laura and Carmilla got their happy ending.  So why do I feel like this is just the beginning?  Simple they are headed to the greatest adventure in life a long relationship with your soul mate.  Learning to live with someone is quite a challenge.  L and I were at a similar point in our life as well.  So I did find something to relate to at the end of the story.           The first thing I want to do is point out how big of a moment the cocoa was in season one ( The Aha Moment )  Why? Because Laura said it was a big deal. " But we’ve had kisses, and cocoa, and stars,  and dancing.  That’s so much more than nothing." When your facing the end or what you think is the end you tend to reflect on the good things that happened.  Essentially this blog...

The Aftermath

After a truth bomb carpet-bombing what is a couple to do.  Talk it out? Ignore everything said and continue like normal?  The aftermath of a bomb exploding can be devastating there is destruction and debris everywhere.  After most of the insecurities are exposed by your best friend things tend to be a tad awkward.  How you handle the aftermath is important, some need time to figure out their next move, some want to break the awkwardness and talk immediately.          In the next three episodes following Maddie's introduction you can tell both are shaken and Laura trying to figure out what the board is up to interferes with them confronting all the insecurities that have come out.  Laura feels Carmilla needs to have a sit-down chat again with Maddie to see if she can get information from her about the murder of the journalism departm...
